 In addition, the middle piece has been shortened compared to the previously existing bits. This anatomical adjustment noticeably optimizes the action compared to conventional double-jointed bits. 
When you touch the reins, the middle piece – also called “olive” because of its distinctive shape – rolls gently over the middle part of the horse’s tongue, stimulating its sense of touch. The connecting rings to the middle piece roll gently over the tongue without exerting pressure.
